In 1963, Olds was approached with the challenge to evolve bugles into marching horns. Zig Kanstul was assigned the task.
The first instrument chosen was the mellophone. With its success, other marching instruments quickly followed.
When Kanstul left Olds, he moved to King where he designed a line of marching horns for them. These quickly became the standard for marching instruments.
Now produced under his own brand, these marching instruments have been refined from Zig's original designs. Kanstul marching brass provides the response and durability necessary for modern field and street performance, and will enhance the musical experience for all students - from drum corps in the summer months to marching and football season in the fall.
